Fishing Ireland West is a group of fishery owners, angling centres, qualified guides/ ghillies, sea angling charter boat owners together with accommodation providers in the western part of Ireland.
We have formed an association, Fishing Ireland West, to promote and market game, coarse and sea angling in the western region. In the West of Ireland we are favoured with some of the best angling in the world.
From the great lakes of the Corrib system, renowned for excellent wild brown trout, we have numerous salmon and sea trout rivers and lakes, mostly in counties Galway and Mayo while there is lightly fished coarse and pike angling in county Roscommon.
To complement these fishing opportunities we have a range of accommodation, from top class hotels- many situated on river systems- to Bed & Breakfast and Self Catering establishments.
To reach us there are 3 airports within easy reach, at Shannon, Galway and Knock. We have an improving network of roads and motorways and are well served by train and bus connections.
To organise your angling holiday and accommodation, please contact any of our members who will gladly provide you with a full programme to make your stay one to remember.
Easily accessible by low-cost airlines, the West is served by 3 airports, at Galway, Knock and Shannon, with daily flights from cities across the UK, Europe and US. You can be here in no time, and out on the water right after arrival.
A warm welcome and knowledgeable guides will ensure you enjoy your stay, and there is always the chance of the “Fish of a Lifetime”….

Whether its game, coarse or sea fishing you prefer, the west has something for everyone. The Limestone lakes of Galway and Mayo are famed the world over for their quality wild brown trout. Salmon run dozens of rivers all over the region. The rich waters of the Shannon catchment in Roscommon and East Galway abound with roach, bream, rudd, perch and pike, and success is guaranteed. The west coast is bathed in the warm waters of the Gulf Stream, and boasts a myriad of species, including cod, pollack, bass, blue shark, conger and eel.
